Business problems, political problems, cheating ex-girlfriend problems. He knows that a week away from the Washington D.C. Beltway won't do a damn bit of good for those problems, but his beach house in Montauk is exactly where he needs to be right now.

This book is a nice read but if you are a Kate Canterbary fan, you may not like the departure. Jordan is a great character, and I feel like he got a bit of a short shrift. The book lacks Canterbary's usual detail, which I found a little disappointing. I like intrigue and spy tropes, but this one seemed to fall flat. I never really felt like I got a handle on April, either before or after the twist. That may have been purposeful since Canterbary does like to surprise her readers. Maybe she wanted April to be a mystery but it just didn't work for me. It just got started then it was over. The very best parts were interactions between Jordan and the Halsteds. All that said, I appreciate that Canterbary needs to expand her horizons creatively because the Walshes can't live forever. I look forward to her next non-Walsh offerings.Product details

Coastal Elite Kate Canterbary 9781946352033 Books Reviews
Wow! Kate Canterbary nailed this one! Our writer lady said this one had a different vibe than her normal sexy architects. I was excited to read what she was talking about and she was right there is a different vibe, but definitely one that I hope she continues with. I can't wait for more... This book has some crossover to the Walsh family, which makes it fun and gives you the feeling you are connected to friends.
Jordan and Will... fun to listen to their banter, quick witted quips and depth of true friends who are business partners. Jordan takes a long weekend to settle his mind after walking in on his girl and a business competitor only to meet a woman who changes his life. April the woman who seems to have it all and more... will she be the woman to capture Jordan's heart or will she leave a bad taste and end his business too? Grab Kate's book/s then join us in Kate Canterbary's Facebook group; great read and lots of fun too!
I shouldn't be surprised. There is nothing "Walsh" about Jordan, and I loved him. This author's way of writing about relationships, not just between partners, but with family and friendships always hits home. All those feels come thru in this book. Enjoyed his POV. I made the mistake of getting comfortable with these characters... Shame on me, and kudos to the author. Just when you think you know someone!! 😉❤❤❤
Jordan Kaisall is a gruff and grumbly, ex-Navy Seal with a successful security business and no money worries. So why is his life such a mess? Jordan hasn’t really been living–just going through the motions, and his recent ex-girlfriend and mission troubles bring that reality crashing down on him. He heads to his cottage in Montauk to reflect on the current state of his life, and to indulge in a little beach therapy. What he finds there is not at all what he expected, the kind and quirky, April Veach.
April is feisty, talented, beautiful, and just what Jordan needs. She smooths his rough edges, and fills the pieces he didn’t even realize he was missing. As Jordan and April are falling fast and hard, no one is more surprised than Jordan when things take an unanticipated turn.
Coastal Elite is bit of a departure for the author, and I loved it as much as her other works. She has written the character-centered, feels-inducing story her readers have come to know and love, with a bit of mystery and suspense. The interaction between the characters, and Jordan’s inner dialogue, is witty, sarcastic, and so entertaining. We also get to catch up with Will and Shannon Halsted, such a treat! Coastal Elite is the perfect pick for a weekend read, or lazy afternoon on the beach. Escape to Montauk, you know you want to!

As I have mentioned before, I am a huge fan of Kate Canterbary’s Walsh series. They are an instant pre-order for me when they come up. This book goes to show that Ms. Canterbary’s talent goes beyond the Walshes. While Will and Shannon make appearances in this book, the primary focus is on Jordan (Will’s friend and business partner) and April. I have to say, I absolutely love them! As always, Writer Lady’s writing is perfect and I want to be friends with Jordan and April. I’m pretty sure April, Shannon, and I could hang out on the weekends, haha. However, you don’t have to read the Walsh series to enjoy this book. (But why wouldn’t you? They are amazing!)
Why is this book perfect? It has wonderful, believable characters, action, and swoony, steamy romance. I couldn’t put this book down. The action associated with Jordan’s job kept me intrigued and the characters kept me rooting for a happy ending.
Jordan is amazing. He is an ex-SEAL who is strong and protective, as well as sweet and adorable. Since his honorable discharge from the military after an injury, he has thrown himself completely into his work in private security with Will. He has had a string of girlfriends, but has never really allowed anything to get too serious. That is, until April. She changes everything for him, or so it seems.
“This apartment, this town, the entire world outside our bodies ceased to exist, and with it went my shades of gray. In their place were absolutes, and for once, I was willing to choose a side.
I wanted to love this woman, and I wanted her to let me.”
In what world is that not swoon worthy?
April is a strong, independent woman who lives in Montauk working a variety of jobs from acupuncturist to yoga instructor to cake decorator. Her sassy mouth and double entendres mixed with her need to care for big, scary Jordan made me absolutely love her. Their relationship wasn’t always easy, or even what it appeared to be, but I couldn’t give up hope for them. They were simply perfect for each other.
The other characters in this book were completely charming and added depth and levity to the story. Mama Trish was wonderful. I would love to have more of her. Jeremy, while not discussed as much was also great. I loved his take on the Jocelyn/April scene. Perhaps they could both have books of their own? A complete Coastal Elite series?
Overall, I highly recommend this book. The only thing that could improve it would be more. It is shorter than Ms. Canterbary’s other books, but it isn’t rushed. I would love to see more books with the Coastal Elite team where we could check back in on this couple.
